Sun Sep 29 04:59:22 UTC 2024: ## PDP Chief Cancels Campaign in Solidarity with Lebanon Following Hezbollah Leader’s Death

**Srinagar, India** – In a show of solidarity with the people of Lebanon, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti has cancelled her election campaign on Sunday. This decision comes after the reported death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut.

Mufti announced her decision on X, stating, “Cancelling my campaign tomorrow in solidarity with the martyrs of Lebanon and Gaza especially Hassan Nasarullah. We stand with the people of Palestine and Lebanon in this hour of immense grief and exemplary resistance.”

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that Nasrallah was killed alongside his daughter Zainab and other Hezbollah operatives during a series of strikes on Friday. The IDF alleges that Nasrallah was coordinating “terror activities” against Israel at the time of the attack.

The news of Nasrallah’s death has sparked outrage across the Muslim world. Protests were held in Jammu and Kashmir, with people carrying pictures of the deceased leader. The All India Shia Personal Law Board (AISPLB) has called for three days of mourning and the hoisting of black flags in Shia homes across India.

The AISPLB’s general secretary, Maulana Yasoob Abbas, described Nasrallah’s death as a “great loss for the Muslim world.” He also called for the United Nations to intervene and bring an end to the ongoing violence in Palestine and Lebanon.
