Sun Sep 29 07:55:33 UTC 2024: ## Mumbai Cricket Star Musheer Khan Injured in Road Accident, to Miss Irani Cup and Start of Ranji Trophy Season
**Lucknow, India:** Promising Mumbai all-rounder Musheer Khan, younger brother of Indian batsman Sarfaraz Khan, has been hospitalized after suffering injuries in a road accident on the Purvanchal Expressway. While his condition is now stable, he is expected to be out of action for at least three months, ruling him out of the upcoming Irani Cup and the beginning of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season.
The accident occurred while Musheer was traveling from his hometown Azamgarh to Lucknow for the Irani Cup, which begins on October 1st. His car hit a divider and overturned, with his father, Naushad Khan, sustaining minor injuries.
Musheer, who is currently being treated at Medanta Hospital in Lucknow, has sustained a fracture in his neck region. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has confirmed that he is conscious and well-oriented, and is under the care of medical teams from both the BCCI and the MCA.
The young all-rounder, known for his aggressive batting style, has been in impressive form, having already scored three centuries and a half-century in nine first-class matches. He was particularly impressive in the previous Ranji Trophy season, scoring a double century in the quarter-final, a half-century in the semi-final, and a match-winning century in the final.
His absence will be a significant blow for Mumbai, the reigning Ranji Trophy champions, as they prepare to face Rest of India in the Irani Cup match starting October 1st. They will then kick off their Ranji Trophy campaign on October 11th against Baroda.
Musheer will be flown to Mumbai for further evaluation and treatment once deemed medically fit. The exact timeline for his recovery is yet to be determined.
