**Thane, Maharashtra:** Riya Arvinda Barde, a Bangladeshi adult film actress known by the pseudonym Arohi Barde, was apprehended in Thane district on Thursday for illegally residing in India using forged documents.
The arrest, made by Mumbai Police, follows a year-long investigation that uncovered a complex forgery operation involving Barde and seven other Bangladeshi nationals, all residing illegally in India. Barde is facing charges related to cheating, forgery, and violation of the Foreigners Act.
Police investigations revealed that Barde, along with her mother Anjali Barde (alias Ruby Sheikh), had been residing in India for several years under false pretenses. They allegedly married an Amravati resident, Arvind Barde, to legitimize their stay. However, Barde’s parents actually reside in Qatar.
The investigation uncovered a pattern of forged documents including birth certificates, school leaving certificates, and passports, all pointing to different birthplaces for Barde. She is suspected of forging documents for an accomplice and duplicating her own documents for personal use.
Barde’s arrest comes after she was previously apprehended by Mumbai police in connection with a prostitution case under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. She is known for her work in adult films, including productions by Raj Kundra and films alongside performer Gehana Vasisth.
