Sat Sep 28 03:04:11 UTC 2024: ## Rain Disrupts Day 1 of India vs Bangladesh 2nd Test in Kanpur
**Kanpur, India:** The second Test match between India and Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur was severely hampered by rain on the first day, with only 35 overs of play possible. Bangladesh reached 107/3 at stumps, with Mominul Haque (40*) and Mushfiqur Rahim (6*) at the crease.
The match was delayed due to a wet outfield after overnight rain, eventually starting at 10:30 AM after a delayed toss. The first session saw a shaky start for Bangladesh, with opener Zakir Hasan dismissed for a duck and Shaiman Islam falling for 24. However, Mominul and Nazmul Hossain Shanto (31) steadied the innings with a 51-run partnership before Shanto was dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin.
The second session, however, was further disrupted by persistent rain and bad light, leading to a premature end to the day’s play. The match is expected to resume on Saturday, but the forecast predicts 78% chance of rain, raising concerns about further delays.
India, who won the toss and elected to field, made no changes to their playing XI, with Kuldeep Yadav missing out once again. Bangladesh, on the other hand, made two changes, bringing in Taijul Islam and Khaled Ahmed in place of Taskin Ahmed and Nahiid Rana.
The focus will be on how quickly the ground staff can prepare the pitch for play on Saturday and whether the weather cooperates to allow for a full day of cricket.
