Sat Sep 28 03:03:42 UTC 2024: ## England Clinch Thrilling ODI Win Over Australia, Keeping Series Alive

**Chester-le-Street, UK** – England captain Harry Brook smashed his maiden ODI century to power his side to a crucial 46-run victory over Australia in the third ODI at Chester-le-Street on Tuesday, keeping the series alive.

Chasing a target of 305, England were cruising at 254-4 with Brook unbeaten on 110 when rain intervened, forcing the match to be decided by the DLS method. England were well ahead of the required run-rate, securing their first win in the series and ending Australia’s 14-match winning streak in ODIs.

Brook, who took over captaincy duties from the injured Jos Buttler, anchored the chase with a brilliant 94-ball 110, hitting 13 fours and two sixes. He formed a crucial 156-run partnership with Will Jacks (84) before Liam Livingstone’s explosive cameo further cemented England’s victory.

Australia, missing Travis Head and Adam Zampa, were left to rue a poor batting performance after posting 304-7. Their innings was hampered by the loss of key wickets in the middle order, including Cameron Green (42) and Marnus Labuschagne (0). Despite a valiant effort from Alex Carey (77*) and Aaron Hardie (44), Australia could not recover from the early setbacks.

The series now heads to Lord’s for the fourth ODI on Friday, with England looking to level the series at 2-2 before the final showdown in Bristol on Sunday.
