**Kent, WA** – The Kent Turkey Challenge, a fundraiser for the Kent Food Bank, is back for its 12th year, aiming to bring Thanksgiving meals to families in need.
Organized by Torklift Central in partnership with Kent United Methodist Church, the challenge encourages friendly competition among businesses, schools, churches, and other groups to collect both monetary donations and food.
This year, organizers hope to raise $20,000 and collect 10,000 pounds of food.
“We’re really excited to bring this back,” said Jasmyne Faborito, Torklift Central marketing director, at the recent announcement. “It’s been a couple of years because of multiple circumstances, but we’re really excited to get back to it and make an impact on the community.”
The Turkey Challenge has a proven track record, having raised close to $200,000 and collected 74,000 pounds of food over its 11 years.
“We’re so grateful,” said Kent Mayor Dana Ralph. “Torklift stepped up to help make sure families have food to celebrate. And I love the competition between businesses and schools that have participated.”
Registration for the challenge is now open and runs from September 29th to November 3rd. Businesses and groups can sign up at https://torkliftcentral.com/turkey-challenge/2024-kent-turkey-challenge.
The event also includes a fun coloring contest for kids, adding a lighthearted element to the giving spirit.
