**New Delhi, September 22, 2024:** Debt-ridden Vodafone Idea has taken a significant step towards network expansion, awarding contracts worth ₹30,000 crore to Nokia, Ericsson, and Samsung for the supply of 4G and 5G equipment. The three-year deal marks the beginning of the company’s ambitious $6.6 billion capex plan, aimed at boosting its network capabilities.
The focus of the investment will be on expanding 4G coverage to reach 1.2 billion Indians, with a particular emphasis on launching 5G services in key markets. Vodafone Idea also plans to increase network capacity to accommodate growing data consumption.
“This mega deal is a testament to our commitment to providing a superior network experience to our customers,” said a company spokesperson. “We are confident that this investment will enable us to deliver on our promise of accessible and reliable connectivity for all.”
