Mon Sep 23 13:13:34 UTC 2024: ## Scottish Maritime Museum Book Club to Discuss “Night Song of The Last Tram”

**Irvine, Scotland** – The Scottish Maritime Museum’s popular monthly book club has announced its next meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, October 9th, from 2pm to 3:30pm. This month’s chosen read is “Night Song of The Last Tram” by Robert Douglas, a memoir recounting the author’s childhood in a Glasgow tenement during and after World War II.

The book club gathering, held in the charming Nature Library on Irvine Harbourside, promises a lively discussion over tea, coffee, and cake. Participants are encouraged to register in advance as only two spots remain for the October meeting.

Jennifer Pless, Community Engagement & Development Officer at the Scottish Maritime Museum, expressed enthusiasm about the book club’s popularity. “We’re thrilled with the success of the book club,” she said. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow readers and enjoy a lovely space like the Nature Library.”

Pless also acknowledged the vital support of North Ayrshire Libraries in providing advance reading copies for participants. Copies of “Night Song of The Last Tram” are also available to borrow from the museum after registering for the book club.

Those interested in joining the Scottish Maritime Museum Book Club are encouraged to email communities@scotmaritime.org.uk or call 01294 278283 to secure their spot.
