**New York:** Prime Minister Narendra Modi has commended the performance of the United States men’s cricket team during the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup. Speaking at an event for the Indian diaspora in New York, PM Modi highlighted the team’s strong showing, particularly emphasizing the contributions of Indian-American players.
The US team, making their first World Cup appearance, finished second in their group stage, securing a thrilling Super Over victory over Pakistan. They also put up a strong fight against India, defending a low score on a challenging pitch. Although they lost all three matches in the Super Eights, the team delivered a spirited performance against eventual finalists South Africa.
Key players for the US included Saurabh Netravalkar, who took six wickets, including those of Indian stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, and Harmeet Singh, a former Indian U19 player who contributed both with bat and ball.
