Mumbai, September 23, 2024: Kiran Rao’s “Lapta Ladies,” a film that resonated deeply with audiences despite a modest box office run, has been chosen as India’s official entry for the 2025 Academy Awards. The Film Federation of India selected the film from a list of 29 contenders, marking a significant achievement for the team behind the film.
“Lapta Ladies,” a story of female empowerment, was written by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan. The film features Ravi Kishan in a prominent role.
