**New York, September 23, 2024:** Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepali counterpart KP Sharma Oli met on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, reaffirming the strong bond between the two nations. This was the first meeting between the two leaders since Oli’s third term as Prime Minister began in July.
The leaders discussed a range of issues including energy, technology, and trade, highlighting their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations.
“Had a very good meeting with Prime Minister KP Oli in New York. The India-Nepal friendship is very robust and we look forward to adding even more momentum to our ties,” PM Modi tweeted, sharing pictures of the meeting.
Oli echoed the sentiment, calling the meeting “very good” and emphasizing the strength of the India-Nepal relationship.
PM Modi’s visit to Nepal in 2022 marked his fifth trip to the neighboring country since 2014, demonstrating the significance India places on its relationship with Nepal.
In addition to the meeting with Oli, PM Modi also held a bilateral meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, expressing India’s deep concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and reaffirming its unwavering support for the Palestinian people.
PM Modi also interacted with American tech business leaders and addressed members of the Indian community in New York. He arrived in New York after attending the Quad Summit hosted by outgoing US President Joe Biden in Delaware.
