**Singapore, September 22, 2024** – Lando Norris of McLaren secured a dominant victory at the Singapore Grand Prix, cutting into Max Verstappen’s championship lead. Starting from pole position, Norris built a significant advantage throughout the race, despite a couple of close calls with barriers.
Verstappen finished second for Red Bull, holding off Lewis Hamilton in the early stages. Oscar Piastri, McLaren’s recent winner in Azerbaijan, claimed third place after overtaking Hamilton and George Russell.
Verstappen’s lead in the championship standings was reduced from 59 points to 52 points after the race. However, with six races remaining, including three sprint races offering extra points, the championship battle remains tight.
Daniel Ricciardo, whose future with Red Bull’s second team RB is uncertain, played a key role in the championship fight. He secured the fastest lap of the race, depriving Norris of the extra point and gifting Verstappen a valuable point.
