Mon Sep 23 14:12:59 UTC 2024: ## BJP Attacks Congress, Accuses Party of Anti-Dalit Sentiment in Haryana
**TOHANA, HARYANA -** Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the Congress party during a poll rally in Tohana, Haryana, on Monday, accusing them of being “anti-Dalit” and insulting Dalit leaders.
Shah specifically targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on reservation, stating that Gandhi had suggested in America that reservation was unnecessary after development. He then pointed out that Haryana is a fully developed state, asking the gathering if they still desired reservation. Shah asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the only one who could protect SC and OBC reservations.
The BJP leader also claimed that the Congress party has a history of insulting Dalit leaders, specifically mentioning Kumari Selja and Ashok Tanwar, and alleged that the Congress party has always been disrespectful towards them.
In contrast, Shah praised the BJP government for providing jobs transparently, alleging that the previous Congress government in the state handed out jobs based on “kharchi” (corruption) and “parchi” (favouritism).
The BJP has been targeting the Congress over Selja’s absence from the poll campaign, with Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar even inviting her to join the BJP.
Shah’s attack comes ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections, scheduled for October 5, 2024. The BJP is aiming to retain power in the state.
