**Chennai, India** – Indian chess prodigy Arjun Erigaisi has reached a career-high ranking of World No. 3 in the latest FIDE live rankings. The 20-year-old grandmaster achieved this feat following an impressive performance at the recent Chess Olympiad.
Erigaisi surpassed American chess legend Fabiano Caruana in the rankings, closing out the Olympiad with a victory against Jan Subelj of Slovenia. His stellar performance earned him a personal best rating of 2797.2.
Erigaisi is now the highest-rated Indian chess player, trailing only Hikaru Nakamura and Magnus Carlsen in the world rankings.
Another rising Indian star, D Gukesh, also performed exceptionally well at the Olympiad, currently sitting at fifth in the live rankings.
