Mon Sep 23 12:10:45 UTC 2024: ## South Africa Ends Afghanistan Series on a High Note with Seven-Wicket Win

**JOHANNESBURG -** Despite losing the ODI series to Afghanistan, South Africa managed to salvage some pride with a convincing seven-wicket victory in the third and final match on Sunday.

Chasing a modest target of 170, the Proteas achieved the win in just 33 overs, thanks to an unbeaten 69 from Aiden Markram. Earlier, Afghanistan, playing without key players Fazalhaq Farooqui and Rashid Khan, were bowled out for 169 in 34 overs.

While the South African bowlers were disciplined, Afghanistan’s own shortcomings played a significant role in their downfall. Three run-outs within their top six batsmen, including Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who top-scored with 89 runs, hampered their progress.

The South African openers, Tony de Zorzi and captain Temba Bavuma, provided a steady start with a 40-run partnership before Markram and Tristan Stubbs (26*) sealed the win with an unbroken 90-run stand.

This victory, while a consolation for South Africa, served as a reminder of their potential despite the series defeat.
