**Singapore, September 22** – McLaren’s Lando Norris secured a dominant victory at the Singapore Grand Prix, leading from pole to flag and extending his championship lead. Teammate Oscar Piastri rounded out the podium with a stunning recovery drive after a disappointing qualifying session.
Norris, who started from pole position, maintained his lead throughout the race, pushing his car to the limit and holding off a determined Max Verstappen. Despite a few close calls and a couple of lockups, Norris displayed masterful control and kept his cool under pressure.
Piastri, on the other hand, faced a more challenging start. After losing a position on the opening lap, he quickly regained it from Nico Hülkenberg. He then capitalized on a strategic pitstop from Lewis Hamilton to move into fourth position and ultimately onto the podium. He managed to pass Hamilton and George Russell with impressive skill and determination, showcasing the immense potential of the young Australian driver.
Team Principal Andrea Stella expressed his immense satisfaction with the team’s performance, highlighting the exceptional performance of the car and the strategic decisions that propelled McLaren to victory. The win marks the second consecutive victory for the team, further cementing their position in the Constructors’ Championship and reigniting their title aspirations.
“Another win! I’m so happy with today, it was an amazing performance from the team,” said Norris, beaming with pride. “The car was mega so I could push. We were fast throughout the whole race, and at the end, I could focus to see it out.”
Piastri added: “It was a good race, and a good recovery from Qualifying yesterday, so to get back to the podium is a great result. The car’s been exceptional all weekend and got some great points for the team. Thanks to the team for their hard work.”
The McLaren team are now poised for the upcoming triple-header, eager to carry the momentum from their Singapore success onto the next three races.
