Mon Sep 23 14:13:01 UTC 2024: ## Congress MP Kumari Selja Rejects BJP Offer, Reiterates Loyalty to Congress Party

**Chandigarh, India:** Amidst the heated political climate leading up to the Haryana Assembly Elections in 2024, Congress MP Kumari Selja has firmly rejected an offer to join the BJP.

The BJP had publicly approached Selja, expressing their belief that she was being mistreated within the Congress party due to her Dalit identity. Haryana’s former Chief Minister and current Union Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, had even extended a formal invitation to Selja, suggesting she join the BJP.

However, Selja has unequivocally stated her intention to remain within the Congress party. She refuted the BJP’s claims of mistreatment, asserting that she has been a loyal member for over three decades and will remain committed to the party’s ideals.

Speaking on the Aaj Tak platform, Selja stated that she is aware of the BJP’s attempts to spread rumors about her potential defection and dismissed them as baseless. “My blood is Congress, and I will remain true to the party,” she said, adding that she will continue to fight for the Congress party and its ideology.

While acknowledging some internal differences within the Congress party, Selja has insisted that these are normal occurrences and do not signify a loss of faith in the party.

Selja’s decision to stay with the Congress comes as a blow to the BJP’s efforts to gain ground in the upcoming Haryana Assembly Elections. The state currently has a BJP government, but the party faces a challenging election ahead.

The Haryana Assembly Elections will be held on October 5, 2024, with the results announced on October 8.
