**Sebastian Stan, known for his role as Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has defended the franchise amidst recent criticisms, saying that while he understands the negativity, he believes the studio’s intentions are good.**
Stan, who recently appeared in the Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” will be back in the MCU’s upcoming “Thunderbolts” (released May 2, 2025). The film will feature an ensemble cast of anti-heroes, including Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
While Stan will be absent from next year’s “Captain America: Brave New World,” he remains optimistic about the MCU’s future. He acknowledged the franchise has faced scrutiny after “Avengers: Endgame” but highlighted Marvel’s commitment to “surprise” audiences and deliver fresh content. “It just comes from a good place,” he said, explaining his protective stance towards the studio.
“Thunderbolts” will conclude Phase Five of the MCU, with “Fantastic Four: The First Steps” kicking off Phase Six in July 2025.
Stan’s upcoming projects also include a role as a young Donald Trump in “The Apprentice” (2024) and a performance as a man with neurofibromatosis in “A Different Man” (2024).
