**Kyiv, Ukraine** – Ukrainian authorities have reported the highest number of Russian troop losses since May, with over 1,440 soldiers reported killed or injured in the past 24 hours. This brings the total estimated Russian losses since the beginning of the war to a staggering 640,920, according to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
The latest figures come amid heavy fighting in eastern Ukraine, with Ukrainian forces pushing into Russia’s Kursk region while Russia attempts to seize the logistical hub of Pokrovsk in Donetsk.
In addition to the high number of casualties, Ukraine also claims Russia has lost 21 main battle tanks, the highest number since July, bringing the total tank losses to 8,746.
While these figures come from Ukrainian sources, independent verification remains difficult. Moscow has not released any official casualty figures since September 2022 and has not updated its death toll since then.
Western intelligence sources, according to The Wall Street Journal, estimate that over 200,000 Russian troops have been killed and 600,000 wounded.
Despite the heavy toll on Russian forces, the war continues with no clear end in sight.
