**Chennai, India:** A “miraculous” return to the cricket field by Rishabh Pant was hailed as “Godsent” by teammate Ravichandran Ashwin after India secured a dominant 280-run victory against Bangladesh in the first Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Pant’s return, after more than two years, saw him smash his 6th Test hundred, contributing significantly to India’s unassailable 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

Ashwin, who also starred with a century and six wickets, praised Pant’s confidence and unwavering support from the team. “I think Rishabh’s form was never in question,” Ashwin stated. “The way he came back and put himself on the field is miraculous. It’s probably God-sent. He batted really well in the first innings, and it’s great to see him back scoring runs the way he usually does,” he added.

Pant, known for his flamboyant batting style, showcased his resilience in the second innings, sharing a crucial 167-run stand with centurion Shubman Gill. His knock of 109 off 128 balls in the third innings was particularly impressive, demonstrating his ability to overcome adversity and deliver when it mattered most.

Ashwin also highlighted Pant’s unpredictable nature at the crease, a quality that makes him both entertaining and unpredictable. “You don’t know when your turn will come [to bat] when he is in the middle,” he chuckled. “He is only going to get better. He never lacked confidence and always got the backing of the team.”

With this victory, India extends its winning streak against Bangladesh, while Ashwin, who was named Player of the Match, continues his impressive form, scoring his 6th Test century and taking a six-wicket haul on his home ground.
