Sun Sep 22 15:32:05 UTC 2024: ## PM Modi Arrives in US for Quad Summit, UN Address, and Meeting with Indian Diaspora
**New York, September 21, 2023:** Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the United States on Saturday, kicking off a three-day visit that will see him participate in the Quad Summit in Wilmington, Delaware, address the UN General Assembly, and meet with the Indian diaspora.
During his trip, PM Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with US President Joe Biden and other world leaders, including those at the ‘Summit for the Future’ at the UN headquarters in New York.
The highlight of the visit will be PM Modi’s address to a large gathering of the Indian diaspora in Long Island, New York, on September 22nd. He will then speak at the UN’s ‘Summit for the Future’ the following day before returning to India.
President Biden welcomed PM Modi and other world leaders to the US for the Quad Summit. He tweeted, “Today, I welcome Prime Ministers Albanese, Modi, and Kishida to my home in Delaware. These leaders are not only essential to ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific—they are friends of mine and our nation. I look forward to what we will achieve together at the summit.”
In a social media post prior to his departure, PM Modi expressed his anticipation for the visit, stating, “I will be travelling to the US, where I will participate in various programmes. I will be part of the Quad Summit hosted by President Biden in his hometown of Wilmington. I am looking forward to the deliberations at the Summit. I will also be having a bilateral meeting with President Biden. In New York, I will participate in the Summit for the Future. I will also address a community event in the city.”
The Indian diaspora in New York is excited about PM Modi’s visit. BJP leader and singer Hans Raj Hans commented on the large gathering, saying, “It seems like all of America has gathered here. We should be proud that so many people have come to hear PM Modi.”
Chef and restaurateur Vikas Khanna, who will be present at the event, said, “It is our duty to respect and honor the leader of our country when he visits. This is important because leaders represent the country, not just a party. They represent our family, our heritage, and our ancestors. Anyone living outside the country represents their culture. When Donald Trump came to India, I received a letter from PMO and was invited there with AR Rahman. What could be a bigger honor for a chef? When you see an Oscar winner on one side and a chef standing to welcome the US President on the other, you elevate the profession in this way. We are different kinds of people, our DNA is different, and we have a lot of respect for our motherland. The PM is our family elder, he represents us, holistically.”
Preparations are in full swing at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island for the PM Modi’s address to the Indian diaspora. The event is scheduled to begin at 9 pm Indian time.
