**Washington D.C., September 18, 2023:** Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on a three-day visit to the United States, participating in the QUAD summit and engaging in other significant events.
During a bilateral meeting with President Joe Biden on Saturday, PM Modi lauded the India-US partnership, calling it “stronger, closer, and more dynamic than ever before.” Both leaders discussed ways to further deepen their collaboration across areas of mutual interest, including the Indo-Pacific region.
“The leaders exchanged views on global and regional issues, including the Indo-Pacific,” said Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Ranbir Jaswal.
President Biden welcomed PM Modi at his residence in Wilmington, Delaware, where the two leaders shared a warm embrace before engaging in bilateral talks.
Following the discussion, President Biden tweeted, “America’s partnership with India is stronger, closer, and more dynamic than ever before. Every time we sit down with PM Modi, I am struck by our ability to find new areas for cooperation. Today was no different.”
At the QUAD summit, PM Modi emphasized the importance of the grouping, stating, “The QUAD meeting is happening at a time when the world is engulfed in tensions and conflicts. In such a scenario, the QUAD’s collective action is crucial for humanity. We are not against anyone. We support a rules-based international order, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, and peaceful resolution of all issues.”
Prior to departing for the US, PM Modi had expressed his eagerness to meet with his counterparts, President Joe Biden, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, at the QUAD summit. He recognized the platform as a “leading group of like-minded nations working for peace, progress, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific.”
Following his visit to Wilmington, PM Modi will travel to New York, where he will participate in an event with the Indian diaspora in Long Island on September 22nd. The following day, he will address the United Nations General Assembly.
PM Modi’s itinerary also includes a roundtable discussion with CEOs of leading US companies working in cutting-edge technologies like AI, quantum computing, and semiconductors.
