**New York, Sept. 22, 2023** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in New York City on Friday, following his participation in the Quad Leaders Summit in Wilmington, Delaware. This is the second leg of his three-day US visit, which will see him address the UN Summit of the Future on Sunday, September 23rd, and interact with the Indian diaspora.

During the Quad Leaders Summit, Modi and the leaders of Japan, Australia, and the United States discussed a range of topics, including:

* **Countering China:** The Quad condemned China’s aggressive actions and discussed strategies to counter them.
* **Indo-Pacific Security:** The leaders emphasized their commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific region and pledged to expand marine security cooperation.
* **International Order:** They reaffirmed their commitment to a rules-based international order and called for a more representative UN Security Council, with greater inclusion of African, Asian, Latin American, and Caribbean nations.
* **Ukraine War:** The Quad leaders expressed their deep concern over the ongoing war in Ukraine and stressed the importance of adhering to international law, including territorial integrity and peaceful resolution of disputes.
* **Cervical Cancer Initiative:** The leaders launched a new initiative to train doctors in Indo-Pacific regions to screen for cervical cancer, which claims the lives of 150,000 women annually in the region.

In addition to the Quad Summit, Modi held bilateral meetings with US President Joe Biden, Japanese PM Fumio Kishida, and Australian PM Anthony Albanese, discussing areas of cooperation in infrastructure, semiconductors, defense, green energy, and more.

Modi also gifted President Biden a silver antique train model and First Lady Jill Biden a pashmina shawl.

Looking ahead, Modi will attend an Indian community event on Long Island on Saturday before delivering his address at the UN’s Summit of the Future. He is expected to return to India after his speech on Sunday.
