**NEW YORK** – The Indian diaspora in New York is buzzing with excitement ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address at the “Modi and US” community event on Sunday. The Nassau Coliseum is set to be a vibrant hub of Indian culture as members of the diaspora have started gathering hours before the event, showcasing their traditions with music and dance performances.

Dhol-Tasha groups, representing the Indian state of Maharashtra, are entertaining the crowd with traditional beats. Other performers from across India, including Telangana, Bihar, and Gujarat, are showcasing traditional folk dances and Bollywood routines.

Renowned Indian chef and restaurateur Vikas Khanna lauded PM Modi’s unifying presence, saying, “The only way the Indian community can rise is by staying united. I think the PM is the elder in the family who brings everyone together.”

Suhag Shukla, head of the organizing committee for the “Modi and US” event, highlighted the significance of the gathering: “It’s a celebration of the Indian-American diaspora, our love for our homeland, and also for the US-India partnership… The Indian diaspora is part of India’s soft power. We are the cultural ambassadors… which exemplifies unity in diversity.”

Prime Minister Modi is expected to address the event around 9:30 PM (India time). This follows his participation in the Summit of the Future (SOTF) at the United Nations in New York. The event is anticipated to be a massive gathering of Indian-Americans, reflecting their pride in their heritage and their strong connection to both India and the US.
