Chennai, India – In a historic moment, India has claimed its first-ever gold medals in both the men’s and women’s categories at the 45th Chess Olympiad. The men’s team defeated Slovenia in the final round, while the women’s team triumphed over Azerbaijan.
The men’s team victory was secured by impressive wins from D Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi, and R Praggnanadhaa, securing a 3-0 victory over Slovenia. Gukesh, the world championship challenger, showcased his strategic brilliance against Vladimir Fedoseev, while Erigaisi also triumphed over Jan Subelj.
