Sun Sep 22 14:51:24 UTC 2024: ## Pant’s Fielding Advice Goes Viral After India’s Victory Over Bangladesh
**Chennai:** Rishabh Pant, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter, has become the talk of the town after a video of him giving fielding advice to the Bangladesh team during the recently concluded ODI series went viral.
The incident occurred during India’s second innings when Pant, in the midst of his century-making partnership with Shubman Gill, noticed a lapse in the fielding positioning of the Bangladesh team. He was seen pointing out the need for an extra fielder at a specific position to the Bangladesh captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto.
Addressing the incident after India’s resounding victory, Pant clarified that his actions stemmed from a desire for good cricketing practice. “Whenever I talk to Ajay Bhai (Ajinkya Rahane) off the field, we always discuss how the game should be played well, regardless of where it’s being played. So, there was no fielder there, so I just told them to put one there,” he explained.
Pant’s century (109 runs off 128 balls) and Gill’s unbeaten 119 were instrumental in securing India’s win, with the pair stitching together a crucial century partnership. This came on the back of Ravichandran Ashwin’s impressive century in the first innings.
The viral video has sparked widespread debate on social media, with some applauding Pant’s passion for the game while others questioned the appropriateness of his actions. Despite the controversy, Pant’s desire for a competitive and well-played game remains evident, mirroring the spirit of true sportsmanship.
