**Chennai:** India secured a resounding victory in the first Test against Bangladesh, winning by a massive margin of 280 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This victory gives India a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

The Indian team, led by Rohit Sharma, dominated the match from the start, setting a daunting target of 515 runs for Bangladesh after declaring their second innings at 287/4. Bangladesh, in reply, faltered under the pressure and were bowled out for 234 in their second innings, leaving India to celebrate a comfortable win.

The key to India’s triumph was the exceptional bowling performance of Ravichandran Ashwin, who took six wickets in the match, and Ravindra Jadeja, who bagged five. Ashwin, in particular, was on fire, taking three wickets on the third day and three more on the fourth.

The Indian captain Rohit Sharma praised his team’s performance, emphasizing the importance of the win and highlighting the outstanding contribution of Ashwin. He also expressed delight at the return of Rishabh Pant to the Test format.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, struggled throughout the match, unable to cope with the Indian bowlers’ dominance. Their batting was particularly disappointing, failing to build any significant partnerships.

The second Test of the series is scheduled to begin on September 27th at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. India will be aiming to continue their winning momentum and seal the series.
