Director Zack Snyder, known for his epic superhero films like “Man of Steel” and “Batman v Superman,” has revealed his favorite superhero project: the 2009 adaptation of “Watchmen.” In an interview with ComicBook, Snyder praised the film’s “clean” transition from comic book to movie design, highlighting its meticulous attention to detail.

Snyder, who is currently working on the “Rebel Moon” franchise for Netflix, acknowledged the popular fan discourse surrounding his DC films, including “Man of Steel” and “Justice League.” However, he emphasized that these movies, while featuring comic book characters, were more driven by his original ideas and concepts.

The “Watchmen” film, considered a faithful adaptation of the acclaimed graphic novel, has been lauded for its visual fidelity and complex narrative. Snyder’s detailed approach to translating the comic book’s iconic visuals to the screen has contributed to its lasting impact.

While Snyder’s involvement with the DCEU is currently uncertain, fans continue to advocate for the “Snyderverse” to be restored. However, with James Gunn and Peter Safran spearheading a new DC shared universe, any future collaborations between Snyder and DC are likely to be separate from the new “Gods and Monsters” slate.

Fans can look forward to the upcoming “Superman” film, set to launch the new DCU on July 11th, 2025.
