**Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Gary O’Neil has declared he is embracing the pressure despite his team’s winless start to the Premier League season.** Wolves sit 18th in the table with just one point from four games, leaving them in the relegation zone alongside Southampton and Everton.
O’Neil, who led Wolves to a mid-table finish last season, acknowledged the team’s recent struggles, noting they have won only one of their last 14 matches dating back to March. He emphasized the difficulty of the upcoming fixtures, which include a Midlands derby against Aston Villa followed by home games against Liverpool and Manchester City.
“There’s a lot of frustration in the building at the moment,” O’Neil admitted. “The fixtures are a difficult run, but we’ve shown we’ve got good enough players and a good enough way of doing things that we’re giving ourselves opportunities in all of the games to take results.”
Despite the mounting pressure, O’Neil expressed confidence in his ability to lead Wolves out of the relegation zone. “I enjoy that part of the job,” he stated. “I don’t shirk away from any of these challenges or any questions around how tough the run (is).”
He further emphasized the team’s commitment to overcoming the current challenges. “We don’t accept them,” he added. “We’re not stood here saying it is acceptable to lose.”
O’Neil also pointed to the recent loss to Newcastle United, where Wolves squandered a lead in the final minutes, as a key area for improvement. “We’re frustrated with little bits and pieces,” he said. “There’s just a need to find a way to do better. We can still be competitive. We need to find a way to make sure it goes our way.”
