**LONDON** – Trinity CineAsia, a UK-based distributor, has secured the rights to distribute the Hong Kong action film “Stuntman” in the UK and Ireland. The film, which releases in Hong Kong on September 26th, will hit UK and Irish cinemas on October 11th.
“Stuntman” follows the story of a washed-up action choreographer struggling to adapt to a changing industry. Determined to make a comeback, he risks everything while simultaneously attempting to mend his fractured relationship with his estranged daughter.
The film boasts an impressive cast, featuring Terrance Lau and Philip Ng, both known for their roles in the recent box office hit “Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In.” The action-packed film also stars stunt veteran Stephen Tung Wai, a seven-time winner of Best Action Choreography at the Hong Kong Film Awards, marking his on-camera return after a seven-year hiatus.
“Stuntman” is co-directed by Albert and Herbert Leung, both stuntmen-turned-filmmakers who draw upon their professional experiences to craft the story.
“Following the success of ‘Twilight of the Warriors,’ we are thrilled to bring another exciting film from Entertaining Power,” said Cedric Behrel, managing director of Trinity CineAsia. “This film marks another step in our commitment to showcasing the talent and creativity of emerging Hong Kong filmmakers.”
The distributor highlights “Stuntman” as a “recreation of the spirit of Hong Kong action cinema from the 1980s golden era,” particularly in its adaptation of iconic fight scene locations like footbridges and shopping centre escalators.
The film will be screened at the upcoming Hawai’i International Film Festival 2024 and will also be featured in Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka through the overseas “Making Waves” program run by the Hong Kong International Film Festival.
Trinity CineAsia, known for distributing films like “Black Dog,” “Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In,” “The Goldfinger,” and “Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms,” is confident “Stuntman” will resonate with audiences in the UK and Ireland.
