**Buenos Aires, Argentina** – French energy giant TotalEnergies has begun production at the Fenix gas field located offshore in southern Argentina. The field, boasting a production capacity of 10 million cubic meters per day, is expected to contribute to a stable gas supply for the Argentinean market.

The Fenix development is a low-cost, low-emission project, utilizing existing infrastructure and boasting a carbon intensity of 9 kg CO2e/boe. This aligns with TotalEnergies’ commitment to low-cost, low-emission strategies.

“Fenix will contribute to maintaining our gas production plateau in Tierra del Fuego and ensure a reliable supply to the Argentinean gas market,” stated Javier Rielo, Senior Vice President Americas, Exploration & Production at TotalEnergies.

TotalEnergies has been operating in Argentina since 1978, actively involved in both onshore and offshore projects, including the Vaca Muerta shale formation. Argentina aims to boost oil and gas output and exports from Vaca Muerta in the coming years, with plans for supertankers to transport oil from the region. The country is also moving closer to exporting LNG through a 20-year deal with Pan American Energy (PAE) for the deployment of a Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) vessel.

This latest development signifies a positive step towards enhancing Argentina’s energy production and establishing a more secure and sustainable energy future.
