The Indian adaptation of the popular British spy thriller “The Night Manager,” starring Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Shobhita Dhulipala, has been nominated for Best Drama Series at the 2024 International Emmy Awards.
The Disney+ Hotstar series, based on John le Carré’s novel, follows a former soldier recruited to infiltrate the inner circle of an international arms dealer played by Kapoor. The show, released in two parts last year, has been lauded for its gripping storyline, stellar performances, and high production values.
The nomination marks a significant achievement for Indian content production on a global stage.
“This nomination solidifies the show as a global phenomenon,” stated Sumanta Bose, Content (Hindi) and Business Head at Disney+ Hotstar.
Anil Kapoor, expressing his joy and gratitude, said, “This show has been a labor of love for all of us. We’ve all poured our hearts into this project. To see it connect with the global audience, and now to receive this prestigious recognition is deeply humbling.”
The show will compete against three other nominees in the category: “Les Gouttes de Dieu” (France), “The Newsreader – Season 2” (Australia), and “Iosi, El Espia Arrepentido – Season 2” (Argentina).
The International Emmy Awards will be held in New York City on November 25th, hosted by Indian comedian Vir Das, who won the award for his Netflix comedy special, “Landing,” last year.
