The fourth annual 24 Heures du Montauk, an exclusive, invite-only rally held in the scenic Hamptons, recently concluded, leaving a trail of automotive enchantment in its wake. This intimate event, held the day before the prestigious Bridge event, has quickly become a favorite among car enthusiasts seeking a unique driving experience beyond traditional car shows.
The rally, co-founded by Rory Tait of Rally and Hootan “Hootie” Rashidifard of Valve & Piston, kicked off at artist Daniel Arsham’s Bridgehampton studio, where 150 guests, in 65 carefully curated vehicles, embarked on a 40-mile drive through the Hamptons, culminating at Dive Bar Pizza in Montauk.
“It’s about the people and stories as much as it is about the cars,” shared Tait, highlighting the event’s focus on camaraderie and shared passion for driving. This relaxed atmosphere and emphasis on connection have made it a highlight for those fortunate enough to attend.
The event featured an impressive lineup of rare automobiles, from vintage classics to modern marvels, showcasing the diversity of automotive passion. Notable participants included Italian race car driver Luca Betti with his Kimera Automobili Evo37, Ferrari F50 and F40 models, two Ferrari 812 Competiziones, and artist Arsham’s striking RUF RCT Carbon Evo and Vanilla Yellow Porsche 993 Carrera S. Other standout cars included an Aston Martin DBR2, Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, Porsche 959, and a Bugatti Chiron.
“We wanted to create an event that’s not just about the cars, but about the experiences — the sounds, the smells, the motion,” explained Rashidifard, emphasizing the event’s focus on the pure joy of driving.
Arsham, who hosted the start of the rally at his studio, praised the event as a “community gathering” that he eagerly anticipates each year. Anthony Serra, founder of 1600Veloce, echoed this sentiment, calling the 24 Heures du Montauk a “perfect blend of cars and people.”
While 24 Heures du Montauk is a relatively new event, it has quickly established itself as a significant force in the automotive world. The event’s growing popularity is reflected in its increased sponsorship from notable companies such as Graniteshares, Sotheby’s Motorsport, and Singer Vehicle Design. As the event continues to attract both enthusiasts and sponsors, it is expected to become an even more prominent fixture in the automotive lifestyle category in the years to come.
