**Athens, Greece** – During the first COVID-19 lockdown, entrepreneur Rania Lamprou observed the surge in online e-commerce but noticed a significant hurdle: complicated checkout processes were hindering conversion rates for merchants. Recognizing this opportunity, Lamprou founded Simpler, a “checkout-as-a-service” platform designed to streamline the checkout experience for both merchants and shoppers.
Simpler differentiates itself from US-focused competitors like Shop Pay and Bolt by concentrating on the unique needs of the European market. Lamprou highlights that while fraud is a major issue in the US, European e-commerce faces challenges related to localization and diverse payment providers.
“We have to localize and add all these different solutions,” Lamprou explained. “Every country has different needs, customer preferences, different payment providers, loyalty coupons, etc.”
This approach is particularly relevant as European e-commerce sales skyrocketed by 66% between 2019 and 2021, and the market is expected to continue growing.
Simpler’s solution offers merchants a unified platform to manage payments, shipping, and loyalty programs, ultimately boosting conversions and simplifying the experience. Shoppers benefit from a one-click buying experience across multiple stores and channels.
While competitors like Shop Pay are exclusive to Shopify, Simpler is compatible with all e-commerce platforms. The company’s success is evident in its rapid growth: Simpler has attracted over 250 merchants and half a million registered shoppers, and expects to increase its revenue tenfold by 2025. This growth has been recognized by investors, with Simpler recently securing €9 million in pre-Series A funding to expand into the UK, Italy, and Spain.
With its focus on the European market and a strong track record of growth, Simpler is positioned to become a leading player in the burgeoning e-commerce landscape.
