Actor Sebastian Stan, known for his role as Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has gone to extreme lengths to perfectly portray former President Donald Trump in the upcoming film “The Apprentice.” The film, set to release on October 11th, delves into Trump’s rise to power in the 1970s and 80s with the help of lawyer Roy Cohn, played by Jeremy Strong.
Stan has revealed that he amassed a staggering amount of footage and imagery of Trump, totaling 130 videos on his physicality and 562 videos and pictures from various periods of his life. He used this extensive archive to study Trump’s speech patterns, mannerisms, and even his improvised responses to specific topics.
Director Ali Abbasi reportedly frequently asked Stan to improvise as Trump during filming, pushing the actor to deeply understand the former president’s mindset and typical reactions. Stan admitted to spending countless hours preparing for each day of shooting, anticipating the director’s unpredictable prompts.
The film, which premiered at Cannes and received an 11-minute standing ovation, has also faced criticism from conservatives and Trump’s 2024 campaign. They have denounced the film as “pure fiction” and “sensationalizing lies” that have been debunked.
Despite the controversy, “The Apprentice” is poised to spark further debate surrounding the former president and his rise to power. With Stan’s dedicated portrayal and the film’s provocative subject matter, “The Apprentice” is sure to be a talked-about film come October.
