Fri Sep 20 11:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Arsenal Defender Saliba Eyes Premier League Title After Dominant Start to Season

Ahead of Arsenal’s crucial clash against Manchester City this Sunday, defender William Saliba has expressed his unwavering ambition to win the Premier League title. The French defender, who has become a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s squad, believes that the team is capable of achieving their ultimate goal.

“Winning this Premier League is not easy, but when you finish twice second, you want to win,” Saliba stated. “We will give everything, even more than last season, because we don’t want to finish second, third or fourth. We want to win this league and we’ll give everything.”

Saliba’s confidence stems from the team’s consistent progress under Arteta’s leadership. “He’s a really good coach and we’re so happy to have him here,” Saliba said of the manager. “He helps us a lot to grow, especially a player like me. I’ve learned a lot of things with him and I’ve become a better player since I’ve worked with him.”

The defender, who honed his skills through loan spells at Saint-Etienne, Nice and Marseille, credits his unwavering determination for his current success. “I wanted to be where I am,” Saliba explained. “It wasn’t always easy at the beginning, but you have to work, sometimes you have bad moments, sometimes you have good moments. You have to stay strong and I didn’t give up.”

Saliba’s strong partnership with Gabriel at center-back is a key factor in Arsenal’s defensive solidity. “There’s no secret,” he said. “I’m good, he’s good. We both speak French and we play now in our third season together. We know each other so well and it’s a pleasure to play every game with him.”

With his sights set on Premier League glory, Saliba is eager to continue his development and help Arsenal secure their first title since 2004. “I still have goals and ambition because I haven’t won anything,” he said. “I’ve had some good seasons, but you need to win some trophies and that’s what I want to do with Arsenal and the national team.”
