Sat Sep 21 14:57:48 UTC 2024: ## Pant Set to Break Records: Former Bangladesh Captain Predicts Wicketkeeper Century Milestone
**Chennai, India:** Rishabh Pant, India’s dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman, is on track to become the highest century-scorer among wicketkeepers in Test cricket, according to former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal.
Iqbal made this bold prediction after Pant smashed a century in the second innings of the ongoing Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai. This was Pant’s sixth Test century, bringing him level with former Indian captain MS Dhoni in the all-time list for wicketkeeper centuries.
“I can confidently say that Rishabh Pant will become the highest century-scorer amongst wicketkeepers,” Iqbal asserted.
Former Indian wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel echoed the sentiment, predicting that Pant will score over 20 centuries in his career.
Currently, the record for most Test centuries by a wicketkeeper is held by Australian legend Adam Gilchrist, who amassed 17 during his career.
Pant, who made his Test debut against England in August 2018, has already established himself as a formidable batsman, scoring 2,419 runs in 34 Tests at an average of 44.79.
He is also closing in on Dhoni’s record for most runs by an Indian wicketkeeper in Test cricket. Dhoni holds the record with 4,876 runs, while Gilchrist leads the overall list with 5,570 runs.
Pant’s consistent performance and aggressive batting style have made him a key figure in the Indian Test team. With his current trajectory, the young wicketkeeper-batsman appears poised to break many more records in the future.
