Fri Sep 20 11:45:06 UTC 2024: ## MM6 Maison Margiela Honors Its Founder with New Dr. Martens Collaboration

MM6 Maison Margiela, the diffusion line of the iconic fashion house, has unveiled a new collaboration with Dr. Martens for its Spring/Summer 2025 collection, presented during Milan Fashion Week. The collaboration showcases a classic Margiela design aesthetic, paying homage to the brand’s founder, Martin Margiela.

The collection features Dr. Martens’ iconic 1460 8-eyelet boots, covered in a signature Margiela technique – white paint. This technique, famously used by Martin Margiela himself, adds a unique touch to the boots, with the cracked and chipped paint revealing glimpses of the black boot underneath.

The use of white paint is a recurring theme in Margiela’s work, stemming from his early days when he and co-founder Jenny Meirens used it to unify their eclectic furniture collection. This design element has become synonymous with the brand and has been applied to various pieces, including denim jeans, Tabi Boots, and now, Dr. Martens shoes.

Beyond the white paint, the MM6 SS25 collection further embodies the Margiela spirit with other signature design elements. The print from the Maison Margiela Aids T-shirt, introduced in 1994, is featured on knitwear, and the collection also showcases Margiela’s signature worn-in look, oversized sunglasses, and upcycled pieces.

While the collection draws inspiration from the brand’s founder and its rich history, it is ultimately a fresh and contemporary reinterpretation of Margiela’s codes. MM6, once again, demonstrates its ability to translate classic designs into modern and innovative pieces.
