**Rome, Italy** – The 2024 Rome Film Festival is set to celebrate the careers of two Hollywood icons, Johnny Depp and Viggo Mortensen, by awarding them both Lifetime Achievement awards.
Depp will also showcase his latest directorial effort, “Modi – Three Days on the Wing of Madness,” at the festival. This biographical drama follows the tumultuous 72 hours in the life of bohemian artist Amedeo Modigliani in war-torn Paris in 1916. The film features a cast including French actress Antonia Desplat and Riccardo Scamarcio.
“Modi” will make its debut at the San Sebastian Film Festival before heading to Rome. The film depicts Modigliani’s struggle to find his place in the world amidst a chaotic backdrop, as he grapples with his desire to leave Paris and the pressure from fellow artists and a potential patron who could change his life.
Meanwhile, Mortensen will screen his latest film, “The Dead Don’t Hurt,” which tells the story of star-crossed lovers in the American West during the Civil War. The film follows Vivienne Le Coudy (Vicky Krieps), an independent woman who falls for Danish immigrant Holgen Olsen (Mortensen). Their love is tested when Olsen decides to fight for the Union, leaving Vivienne behind.
The Rome Film Festival will run from October 16-27, and is sure to be a highlight for cinema enthusiasts with these two acclaimed actors taking center stage.
