**Rome, Italy** – Johnny Depp will receive a career award at the upcoming Rome Film Festival, organizers announced. This comes alongside the Italian premiere of his latest directorial effort, “Modi – Three Days on the Wing of Madness,” which will be unveiled in the festival’s non-competitive Grand Public section.
“Modi” delves into the tumultuous 72 hours in the life of famed Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, played by Italian actor Riccardo Scamarcio. The film boasts a star-studded cast including Al Pacino as art collector Maurice Gangnat, alongside Stephen Graham, Bruno Gouery, Ryan McParland, and Sally Phillips.
Set in Paris during World War I, the film follows Modigliani’s journey toward becoming an artistic legend. “Modi” marks Depp’s return to directing after his 1997 debut, “The Brave.” This is also one of his first projects since his high-profile legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard, which significantly impacted his career. Depp made his festival comeback last year at Cannes with a starring role in “Jeanne du Barry.”
The Rome Film Festival will run from October 16th to 27th, and “Modi” will be released in Italy by Be Water in collaboration with Maestro Distribution and Medusa Film.
