**ZDNET** has released its review of the standard iPhone 16 models, finding that Apple has taken a “Sibling Strategy” by offering features previously exclusive to Pro models, while still falling short on certain key aspects.
The iPhone 16 boasts an updated camera system with a 12MP ultrawide lens, capable of macro shots and improved low-light performance. It also features a new “Camera Control” button, similar to the Pro models, which allows for fine-tuned camera settings, though it might take some getting used to. The standard models now also support capturing spatial photos and videos for VR, another Pro-feature trickle-down.
However, the iPhone 16 doesn’t offer the 90Hz refresh rate found in many mid-range Android phones, sticking with a 60Hz display, although battery life is improved. While wireless charging has been bumped up to 25W, wired charging remains at 20W, making it slower than many flagship phones.
The review highlights that the iPhone 16’s AI capabilities, powered by the new Apple Intelligence suite, won’t be fully available until October.
ZDNET concludes that the iPhone 16 offers excellent value for money, particularly with the addition of Pro-level features. However, the lack of a smoother display and faster charging could be deal-breakers for some users.
The full review delves into the specifics of ZDNET’s testing methodology and provides a comprehensive analysis of the iPhone 16’s performance in various areas.
