Fri Sep 20 13:06:05 UTC 2024: ## Man Accused of Murdering Chloe Mitchell Had History of Mental Health Issues

**Ballymena, Northern Ireland** – A man accused of murdering 21-year-old Chloe Mitchell has been revealed to have a history of mental health issues, dating back to his childhood.

Brandon Rainey, 27, appeared in Belfast Crown Court on Friday charged with murder and attempting to prevent the burial of Ms. Mitchell’s body. He has pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Rainey has been receiving mental health services since the age of seven, the court heard. A consultant psychiatrist has compiled a report detailing various psychiatric findings, including paranoid schizophrenia, borderline and mixed personality disorders, and substance abuse disorders.

The defence requested time to consider the report and consult with Mr. Rainey, who appeared via video link. The defence barrister stated that an addendum report or a new report from an expert psychiatrist may be needed depending on the outcome of the consultation.

The case has deeply affected the community, with Ms. Mitchell’s friends and family filling every seat in the public gallery, wearing matching sweatshirts and T-shirts reading “Justice for Chloe.” They were visibly emotional as they left the court, expressing their grief and anger.

The case has been adjourned until October 4th, as the court continues to gather information and assess the evidence.
