Fri Sep 20 12:11:49 UTC 2024: ## India Dominate Bangladesh in First Test: Bumrah Shines, Bangladesh Falter

**Chattogram:** Jasprit Bumrah’s masterful bowling performance propelled India towards a commanding victory in the first Test against Bangladesh, leaving the visitors with a mountain to climb. India ended the second day with a massive 308-run lead, thanks to Bumrah’s impressive spell and a collapse by the Bangladesh batting order.

Bumrah claimed 4/50 as Bangladesh were bowled out for a paltry 149 in their first innings, in reply to India’s imposing 376. The paceman, along with Mohammed Siraj (2/30), Akash Deep (2/19), and Ravindra Jadeja (2/19), dismantled the Bangladesh batting lineup, exposing their vulnerability against pace and spin.

The Bangladesh innings was marked by a series of inexplicable dismissals, with Litton Das (22) and Shakib Al-Hasan (32) throwing away their wickets through unnecessary shots. Shakib’s dismissal, a reverse sweep that hit his boot and landed in Rishabh Pant’s gloves, was particularly bizarre.

While India’s second innings began with a slight hiccup, losing Rohit Sharma (5) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (10) early, Shubman Gill (33*) and Rishabh Pant (12*) ensured a solid finish to the day.

Despite a rare wicketless performance from centurion Ravichandran Ashwin, India’s bowlers consistently maintained pressure, exposing the fragility of the Bangladesh batting order. The second day’s play was a testament to India’s dominance, leaving them firmly in control with a substantial lead and three days to secure a victory.
