**Limerick, Ireland** – Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a body on the grounds of University Hospital Limerick (UHL) late Thursday night, suspecting it to be that of a missing man from the mid-west region. While formal identification is pending, authorities are working under the assumption that the remains belong to a man reported missing several weeks ago.
The body was found near the hospital’s helipad and staff car park on St Nessan’s Road. Gardaí are investigating all aspects surrounding the discovery and have sealed off a large area including the car park and surrounding green areas. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death and guide the investigation.
A spokesperson for the Gardaí stated that their investigation is ongoing and the Limerick Coroner’s office has been contacted to arrange an inquest hearing.
It is understood that a member of the UHL staff found the body and notified emergency services.
