Fri Sep 20 13:15:46 UTC 2024: ## Body Found on University Hospital Limerick Grounds Suspected to be Missing Man
**Limerick, Ireland -** Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a body on the grounds of University Hospital Limerick (UHL), which is suspected to be that of a man reported missing from the mid-west region several weeks ago.
The body was found late Thursday night near a helipad and staff car park on the hospital grounds at St Nessan’s Road. While formal identification is pending, Gardaí are working on the assumption that the remains belong to the missing man.
A Garda spokesman stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the discovery. The body has been removed from the scene, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death and guide the investigation.
A large area surrounding the discovery, including a car park and adjacent green areas, remains cordoned off as Gardaí continue their investigation. The Office of the Limerick Coroner has been contacted to arrange an inquest hearing.
It is understood that a member of the UHL staff found the remains and alerted emergency services.
