**San Francisco, Sept. 20, 2024** – Securitize, the leading platform for tokenized assets, announced today its integration of Wormhole as its official blockchain interoperability provider. This partnership will enable cross-chain capabilities for all assets tokenized through the Securitize platform, opening up new avenues for liquidity and accessibility.
This integration is particularly significant given Securitize’s role in BlackRock’s foray into tokenized US Treasuries through its BUIDL fund. The BUIDL fund, currently the largest tokenized fund in the US with over $520 million in market cap, will benefit from the enhanced interoperability.
“Tokenized securities need to thrive on public, permissionless blockchains to unlock the potential of blockchain technology,” said Carlos Domingo, CEO and co-founder of Securitize. “This partnership marks a major step towards a cross-chain ecosystem, demonstrating how public blockchains can enable previously unavailable use cases.”
Securitize will utilize its own smart contracts in a customized approach, allowing for tailored solutions that meet specific asset manager needs and regulations while leveraging the Wormhole messaging protocol.
“Securitize has solidified itself as a leader in the tokenized asset ecosystem, and we’re thrilled to bring the Wormhole platform to their customers to enable a more complete asset management experience,” added Robinson Burkey, co-founder and CCO of Wormhole Foundation. “This collaboration will pave the way for increased institutional adoption of tokenized assets, bridging the gap between traditional finance and decentralized finance.”
Wormhole’s interoperability infrastructure has already facilitated the movement of nearly $47.7 billion across chains since its deployment. This move comes at a time when the tokenized US Treasuries market is experiencing rapid growth, surpassing $2.2 billion in 2024, with a 187% year-to-date increase. While Ethereum dominates the market with over $1.6 billion in tokenized real-world assets, significant liquidity is fragmented across various ecosystems, highlighting the need for a robust cross-chain interoperability solution.
This partnership between Securitize and Wormhole marks a significant step towards a more interconnected and accessible future for the growing tokenized asset ecosystem.
