Fri Sep 20 12:38:34 UTC 2024: ## Biafra Leader Ekpa Calls on South-East Elites to Join Biafra Struggle

**Lahti, Finland** – Simon Ekpa, self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile (BRGIE), has called upon South-East political elites to join his movement for Biafra’s independence. Ekpa, who has repeatedly declared his intention to declare Biafra’s liberation on December 2, 2024, believes that Nigeria has failed to offer any tangible benefits to the Igbo people and has only subjected them to injustices and marginalization.

In a statement on X, Ekpa urged the elites to participate in the upcoming “Declaration of Biafra Liberation Convention” scheduled for November 29 to December 3 in Lahti, Finland. He believes this convention will mark a crucial step towards restoring Biafra’s independence.

Ekpa maintains that the Biafra struggle is justified by the UN Charter of peoples’ rights to self-determination and international law on human rights. He believes that the end of Nigeria is imminent and this represents an opportunity for the Igbo elites to join the fight for a truly equal society.

Despite calls for his arrest and repatriation, Ekpa continues to push for Biafra’s liberation. He has previously demanded the demilitarization of Igboland and has defended the actions of Amaka Sunnberger, a Biafra activist who issued threats against Yoruba and Edo people.

The upcoming convention will be a significant event in the ongoing Biafra struggle. It remains to be seen whether Ekpa’s call to action will resonate with the South-East political elites and if the convention will lead to any concrete steps towards the actualization of Biafra’s independence.
