**Mumbai, September 20, 2024:** Shares of Vodafone Idea (Vi) plunged to a new low on Friday, following the Supreme Court’s decision to reject curative petitions on adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues. Analysts predict the ruling could lead to a financial crisis for the struggling telecom company in the second half of 2025, when annual spectrum and AGR payments totaling $4-5 billion become due.

Vi’s stock plummeted 4.82% on Friday, reaching a low of ₹9.88 per share. The company’s already fragile financial position has been further weakened by the Supreme Court’s decision, which leaves Vi without any concessions on its AGR obligations.

Analysts from Macquarie Research believe that without significant AGR relief, Vi would require at least 25-30 years to organically pay back its dues, even with an optimistic 15% annual revenue growth. This bleak outlook has raised concerns about Vi’s ability to sustain operations and has prompted calls for further repayment timeline extensions.

The ruling has also triggered a wave of selling in the telecom sector. Shares of Indus Towers, which provides infrastructure for telecom operators, fell by 8.86% on Thursday, while Bharti Airtel, Vi’s main competitor, closed the day with a marginal gain of 0.75%.

The Supreme Court’s decision marks a major setback for Vi, which has been battling financial troubles for several years. The company has already received significant financial support from its promoters and has been aggressively pursuing cost-cutting measures. However, the looming AGR payments threaten to derail Vi’s turnaround efforts and could lead to further market share erosion.
