**Alcudia, Spain -** Two restaurant workers, a Spaniard and a Colombian, have been arrested by the Guardia Civil for allegedly stealing nearly €100,000 from their employer.
The investigation began in January 2023 when the restaurant owner noticed discrepancies between sales recorded in the computer system and actual earnings. Suspicions grew, and in June 2023, surveillance cameras were installed to monitor the cash register and computer terminal.
The footage revealed that the two workers were pocketing cash from sales, failing to record them in the system, and not issuing receipts to customers.
The restaurant owner estimates that the pair stole at least €94,000 in 2024 alone, with the total amount suspected to be significantly higher. The duo was arrested after their shift ended, with one worker found in possession of €700.
The investigation is ongoing, and the suspects are expected to face charges of theft.
