**Chennai, September 20, 2024** – Tamil Nadu Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin inaugurated a renovated fish market and a new sports facility in Nadukuppam, Triplicane on Friday.
The revamped fish market, located in Ward 120, Teynampet Zone, covers an area of 218.10 sq. m and underwent repairs and improvements at a cost of ₹26.42 lakh. The upgrades include improved water supply, electricity, drainage, and the installation of iron stairs.
Following the inauguration of the fish market, the Minister opened a new sports facility, built under the ‘Namakku Naame Thittam’ scheme at a cost of ₹41.1 lakh. The facility boasts an indoor play area, badminton court, volleyball court, and other amenities. The project was executed by Child Life, an NGO working for underprivileged children.
The Minister also inspected local facilities and paid respects to a statue of M. Singaravelar. Mayor R. Priya, Chennai Central MP Dayanidhi Maran, Deputy Mayor M. Magesh Kumaar, Commissioner J. Kumaragurubaran, and other officials were present at the inauguration.
